English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson has announced he will stand in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
Mr Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is expected to stand as an MEP candidate in the North West England constituency.Anti-extremism campaigners Hope Not Hate called for voters to oppose him.

He is not eligible under UK law, he has been convicted of mortgage fraud and sentenced to 18 months in jail making him ineligible under the representation of the act. Any returning officer putting him on a ballot paper renders the result of that election invalid.
Robinson's criminal record includes convictions for violence, financial and immigration frauds, drug possession, public order offences, and contempt of court. Is the best British conservatives have to offer?
If he succeeds, then every politician who has fought to keep the U.K. in the EU should hang their heads in shame and resign from politics altogether.
