Tommy Robinson has failed in a bid to end contempt of court proceedings against him as High Court judges ruled he will face a retrial.
Judges at the Old Bailey have given the go-ahead for fresh proceedings to be brought against Robinson over an allegation he committed contempt of court by filming people in a criminal trial and broadcasting footage on social media.She said reasons for the decision would be given at a later date.
The far-right activist was also met by anti-racist protesters who turned up to out-sing Robinson’s followers with chants of ‘refugees are welcome here’.One supporter even made a giant milkshake with the sign ‘Want fries with that Tommy?’ to taunt Robinson, who wasAfter the court’s decision was announced, the crowd who turned up to support Robinson outside the Old Bailey booed and chanted ‘shame on you’.
