People have been warned against the dangers of tombstoning after three were seriously hurt jumping 70ft from a cliff on Dorset's Jurassic Coast.
Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team said four people jumped from the arch into the sea at the famous beauty spot, egged on by crowds.People have been urged to stay away from Dorset's beaches and roads around the area have been closed for safety reasons, the council said. A third person had serious injuries to their body and was taken by ambulance to Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester.Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team said:"We understand that four individuals jumped from Durdle Door yesterday, encouraged by the crowds on the beach.
The whole party including the jumpers should receive fines or a charge for the emergency response etc they chose to be drinking, and then chose to dare each other no one stepped in to stop them. Risking all the lives on the beach mingling with Covid.
Self inflicted injuries, hope they were forced to pay for their treatment!
when divers hit the water off the 10 meter diving board they hit the water at just over 30 miles an hour, cliff divers have at least 43 feet of water when diving and have to land feet first. Competitive cliff divers dive from heights of 59 to 85 feet (18-26 meters)
This activity of jumping 70ft or more into water of unknown depth is madness.. In my past I've jumped off low cliffs 30-40ft into water at Lake Powell in the US at least 20feet deep & that was scary & risky enough.. But 70ft? Water can be as hard as concrete if you hit it badly!
This activity of jumping almost 200ft into water of unknown depth is madness.. In my past I've jumped off low cliffs 30-40ft into water at Lake Powell in the US at least 20feet deep & that was scary & risky enough.. But 200ft? Water can be as hard as concrete if you hit it badly!
I hope the three are okay but how stupid is that? We all used to play lemmings (if we are if a certain again) and we all know what happens when lemmings without stairs fall from great height!
You can't educate stupid people.
If they continue to do this, they should be made to make their own way to hospital when they hurt themselves.
Absolutely disgusting the amount of people on that beach the cases are still high and no wonder with that bad behaviour
What is the point.
Any person with a brain would suffer related damage, those guys probably had little to lose.
Why does anyone need warning about the dangers of Tombstoning?
Darwinism trying it's best but still the idiots are amongst us... Many of them standing in a crowd watching these helicopters... Pricks
Darwin Award coming up
These people are a drain on society, there's no need to warn them.
I think they were trying to win a Darwin award, but failed.
If there stupid enough to go to the beach during the present pandemic they are stupid enough to jump off cliffs.
I hope they are going to school tomorrow. It would’ve been good if the MSM had canvassed beach going parents and asked them if their children were going back to school on 1/6.
They should leave them self rescue! Everybody have been told that putting themselves in harms way could end up in tragedy.
If only there was some killer disease circulating to harvest these fuckwitts from society

Broadchurch series 4?
Illustrating the mentality, not only of those who jump uncating from great heights into the sea, but also that of the mass crowds who seem not to know that COVID-19 can be transmitted by close contact with others. Each one must have the intellect of a sock.
Interesting use of the metaphor..Tombstoning!
Yesterdays news. Move on...
Crack on with it, the name's a clue 😅
Personal responsibility is needed, seriously not difficult to Think for yourself. a) don’t go to a busy place, b) if it is busy leave, c) Don’t stay to rubberneck in a crowd, d)listen to scientists not government and stay safe
Never mind the Coastguard warning, test track and trace all of the morons that are herded together on the beach taking fucking selfies

Remember Boris saying he trusts the people to do the right thing 🤭. 10 weeks I have not been out and I see this.Still 1000's getting it every day and people wonder why.I really fear for the future of this country with these I don't care and it won't happen to me attitudes.
Every year the councils put out warnings about this and every year people ignore them
Maybe ignoring this issue here but is that a huge gathering of people below the cliffs. What’s wrong with people are the not hearing the news or just acting totally irresponsibly. There are no words 😶
Idiots
That not so common sense in action again
natural selection in action
Is Britain also top of the world's 'Most Stupid' nations. If so, that's two trophies for 2020.
Common sense
They will end up with a personaized tombstone soon
what happened to the fourth person?
Darwin's theory in action, pity the old boys not alive to see it.
If CV19 won't kill me, jumping off a cliff might
Idiots! No bloody sympathy.
I’m can’t be the only one gutted no dinosaurs where involved
To be fair the government didn’t tell them specifically not to jump off a high cliff into shallow water. The message was confusing for them.
Pity it didnt kill them.
Let em get on with it!
The idiots should be told they will not get rescued if they do stupid things like jumping off a cliff. Our emergency services are hard pushed as it is, they are just selfish
We've had tombstone warnings for years and idiots still do it.
Darwin’s Law in operation...😢
Absolute bloody idiots And sadly this won't be the last stupid thing like this to happen. Weather is nice, and people don't give a shit about lockdown anymore LockdownIsOverThanksDom
😷 mask, hand sanitizer, social distance, commonsense, education.
Brexit-on-Sea. thecummingseffect
Is this all part of the weasel cummings's cunning plan for herd immunity 🙄
Warning: don’t set yourselves on fire. It hurts
Absolute weapons
And people want youngsters to have more say in fashioning our future. You must be mad! I’ve very little sympathy they have been warned time and time again not to do this. Sympathy? For their family maybe.
Serves them right getting injured! Is this the sort of British common sense BorisJohnson had in mind? I have no sympathy for people this moronic.
Covidiots will be Covidiots.
Close all beaches then re-open with online booking only and fines for all attending a beach without a pass with a bokking number or misbehaving with a pass. limit numbers and give priority booking to families with kiddies. Some people do not have common sense end of.
The amount of people that I know and speak to have all agreed! Send th ones that are going to the beach to work!!! And the ones that are staying within the rules Get to Choose if they want to go back to work!!! Simples
I grew up around here and I can tell you , despite your best assessment, you have *no* idea what's under the surface. You are literally diving into darkness. You haven't a clue as to water's depth or the maritime topography when you're looking down off the cliff. Foolish at best.
Serves them right for being stupid
BritishCommonSense
British public vs common sense =
Imagine not understanding that jumping from a cliff is dangerous and likely to cause injury. Imagine being thick enough to have less understanding of gravity and falls than any other animal on the planet. With a lack of natural selection the human race will not progress further.
Leave them alone, they were just practising for the 1st January 2021
Should have made the stupid ********** walk to the hospital.
‘tombstoning’......the new term for going to the beach and not social distancing.
Does it also say about the fight, the fires and the broken ankle from the walk? Stupid people
Still, at least the crowds leaving were keenly observing the social-distancing rules. Oh sorry, no, guidance - they were obviously just interpreting it in their own way..
3 down ! And the other lemmings on the beach social distancing NOT are next .
Stupidity rules. . . .
Tombstoneing.
And we’re being told to use our own common sense during this crisis. This, as much as the governments own inadequacy and callous approach to life, will be the reason for this virus’ long survival.
At that height you hit the water at over 80mph!
Bet they spent last 3 months hiding at home terrified of COVID......
Somebody please chum the waters.
At that height you height the water at over 80mph!
Why do we see crowds like this when me and the misses are on our 10th week of lockdown and still not hugged any of our grandchildren it makes me sick
Conservative voting lemmings in Essex, is this news?
Let them carry on doing it. Cleaning out the gene pool.
All they have to do is close the beaches and it will stop all the idiots that think it’s funny to have half the emergency services out to save them
The English are literally jumping of a cliff! And they have shown there are many ways to do it.
Don't dive off a cliff Ok then
Maybe not as dangerous as the crowd created by the tombstoning
That crowd!! I've seen better social distancing at a brothel.
But... common sense...
Common sense.
Did one jump first then the other two followed If so that is top level stupidity, seeing your mate floating in the water, doesn't scream, 'come on its our turn'.. Mongs
Idiots
'Cove'-Idiots!
Much like the dinosaurs, these idiots in the picture will likely become extinct in the next two weeks
Maybe they were running from the velociraptors.
That is going to be the picture in the history books, covidiots
If the virus doesn't get you...............
Social distancing is still in place! Whoever pushed that crowd back for the helicopter to land needs to be sacked!
I mean, piss off man. 😂
If you’ve ever been there they must of been thick as shit to jump from that height into the sea below .Idiots
