Timex Releases ‘The Perfect Watch’. Yours for £750

Words which come to mind when thinking of Timex: robust, affordable, usually quartz powered and often genericallyWords that don’t necessarily come to mind: sleek, modern, minimalist, with mechanical movements and custom case designs.

Notable features included a brushed and layered case that came from somewhere outside Timex’s playbook, an open caseback so you could watch the mechanical movement working away and a super-clean dial devoid of numerals or date windows. Just an incongruous ruby above the 6 o’clock marker, apparently to signal the mechanical movement inside. It cost £425 – punchy, for a Timex.It was a big success.
