Sara, 10, was found dead at her home in Woking, Surrey on 10 August after a 999 call from Pakistan by a man identifying himself as her father, Urfan Sharif The father of Sara Sharif, 10, his partner and his brother have been arrested on suspicion of murder by police investigating her death.
On 14 August, detectives investigating the murder revealed they were looking for three family members who were known to the victim. Urfan Sharif , Beinash Batool, and Faisal Malik. Urfan Sharif, had been on a plane back to the UK going on the run for weeks. His family home is reportedly in Jhelum, Punjab, about 84 miles from the capital, with police finding evidence that he had briefly returned to Jhelum, before leaving and disappearing, according to Associated Press.
Council leader Tim Oliver said the national Child Safeguarding panel has been notified of the death and a multi-agency rapid review is under way, in line with standard process following the death of a child.Police in Pakistan announced they are “close to locating” Sara’s family and have interrogated the father, brother and uncle of Urfan Sharif.
