A 12-year-old girl is hoping to take legal action against video-sharing app TikTok, claiming the company uses children's data unlawfully. The action is being supported by Anne Longfield, the children's commissioner for England. She believes TikTok has broken UK and EU data protection laws.
Ms Longfield hopes the case will lead to greater protective measures for under-16s who use TikTok in England and possibly beyond. The commissioner told the High Court in London - via a video link - that she hoped it to would ultimately issue an order forcing the firm to delete the child's data, setting a precedent.
Mr Justice Warby judged that the girl risked being cyber-bullied by other children and TikTok users if her identity was revealed.

Parents after easy cash, let's hope The court tells parents they are under investigation for not looking after a child under 16 in a responsible manner......
There's barely any kind of age restriction on tik tok I had to take it off my 8 year olds phone and delete her account myself. Stop trusting companies to do your jobs. Be a parent.
Should all these social media companies be forced by law to ask for credit card at the account opening stage? That would be a blow see how many people would think twice before signing up for an account.
There’s thousands of under 12’s that have a TikTok , Facebook, Twitter, Google etc accounts. Very few get messages that ask to prove age, which I find unlawful!!!
Yes she should remain anonymous I presume it is the parents on her behalf doing this They will be asked some very hard questions about their responsibilities.
TikTok that started off as got done loads of times so they changed name to TikTok. They have been known for years to breach data
