British citizens living overseas say they're eager to make their voices heard in the UK

Zoe Joanne Green, who lives in Rome, and Nigel Aston, in Spain’s Costa Blanca, have put plans in place to vote from abroadUnder previous rules introduced in 2002 by the Labour government, Britons who had lived abroad for more than 15 years were ineligible to vote in their home country.

“I think it is an important message to get across that I appointed a proxy because once candidates have been appointed and ballots have been printed then sent out to Spain, I just don’t see how these papers are going to get back in time,” said Mr Aston, who declined to say how he would vote.system was challenging, after she was told her form would be sent just 6-12 working days before polling day and must arrive by the day of the election.
