Construction firms say diversion of money towards repairs will result in fewer new buildings

Plans for thousands of affordable homes face being scrapped as billions of pounds are diverted to fixing the building safety crisis, builders have said.Group, the UK’s largest provider of affordable housing, has told the Guardian it is on course to build 1,800 fewer affordable properties over the next five years as a result of the crisis. Another large provider, which asked not to be named, said it would build 2,000 fewer in the next 10 years – a 15% drop – because of the crisis.

The builders and Co were from Europe !

Passive housing is what we need, if theres a safety crisis use insulated concrete forms ICF'S. We need a modernisation of construction methods.📈🎐🤯💴🤜👒📦🎯😎💸📦

The building companies and individual builders should be footing the bills they all knew what they were doing. Why are social tenants getting it all paid for when they get around a 1/3 off market rate already.

emma_byrnee They aren't 'Repairs' they are remediations of errors which builders shouldn't have made in the first place. And developers shouldn't be able to build - and sell - more property until they have corrected all of the corners they cut on earlier developments.

Well the rag can't complain, it's been ranting on about the safety issues for years. Stand by for yet another spending commitment............
