Thousands of people gathered in Carrickfergus today to celebrate the Learning Disability Pride carnival parade.
Organisers have said that they have been blown away by the support that they have received today as around 2,000 people took part in the parade through the Co Antrim town. The event was organised by a number of different organisations, which include: Carrickfergus Senior Gateway, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, Mencap NI, Caring Breaks, Sense, Kilcreggan Homes, Praxis Care, Positive Futures, AEL, The Cedar Foundation and My Community.Thomas Haighton of Carrickfergus Senior Gateway, said:"Once again we have been blown away by the support from today's event.
"Today wouldn’t have been available with the support of the Big Lottery community fund and mid and east Antrim Borough council and we are very thankful for their help.Oscar award winner James Martin with Kate Grant and Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Gerardine Mulvenna at today's Learning Disability Pride parade in Carrickfergus, County Antrim today.
