On the really painful days in politics, most commentary isn’t worth the name. It’s not analysis, it’s score-settling; party political broadcasts for the I-told-you-so brigade, rushed out by people who won’t admit to ever getting a single thing wrong themselves.
The left has a problem globally with fascists and racists making the right options. Right-wing options only want victory and they are not interested in the people and the state. Right-wing options play dirty. They destroy from the inside leftist options.
Don't be daft. Labour regained its strength in 2017 and in the year following the elections. What screwed it was its pandering to Remainers. The arrogance of the Remainers to demand another referendum; they even managed to push the North East towards the Tories. So, well done.
But the Marxist Party doesn't believe in a Deity?
The best way to control the opposition is to lead it (Lenin) what better example than that of Tony Blair? ask the Iraqis if he is a real Labour man for social justice.
the systemic and relentless privatisation has been building for years dont you mean? there is no such thing as society only individuals and their families (margaret thatcher) remember? the system has worked to destroy the political respresentation of fairness and redistribution
Funny how with the benefit of hindsight everyone can see what would have made a difference...but never thought to mention it before. What would be a bigger help would be the msm remembering what journalism is for.
Labour has been hijacked by the far and hard left, minorities, and young people full of stupid ideas. Labour used to represent working class people, in traditional communities - the same people you now villify, talk down, call stupid, brand as racists, and hold in contempt.
Hmmmmm
you're welcome 😉
Dogshit.
Extremely harsh on Labour policy programme. It could deffo have been communicated better over a longer period, but we were hardly beaten by a better policy position, they didn't offer any. So we should be asking; why have large swathes of this country given up their imagination?
Aditya never foresaw the defeat yet this heartlands problem has been building for years. The Guardian's problem is the same as Labours. Get out of your metropolitan bubble and start to understand what reality is in places like Blyth and Leigh
Yup, you helped build it and that is why I don't read a damned word of you anymore. That and you went from singing the praises of Assange to throwing him under the bus. You are only progressive when politically convenient.
Resolution not revolution. Use language and policies that benefit everybody.
Guardian journalists like chakrabortty have spent years bigging up Corbyn and his disastrous project Coming along now and telling us why it failed is a bit daft. People have been pointing out the problems for years and Guardian journalists have been shouting us down
Likes of owen jones really haven’t helped.
I still believe Corbyn has got what it takes to bring us back into the world and to provide safety to the meek. Stay faithful to him and keep campaigning. Do not lose faith and don't submit to fear.
Here chakrabortty writes for an outlet that was key in derailing Corbyn over the last four years. It's a conundrum, things aren't going to change until progressive journalists find other ways than supporting these rags to pay their mortgages.
the penultimate paragraph sums it up beautifully - rebuild from those basics that were where Labour started, be the unifying force in shattered communities
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, this is not really a meltdown … come on !
Obviously the building needed a better quality of cement!
To all the labour SJW's out there..this election result is YOUR fault.. nobody like ya!
