Theresa May suffers 149-vote defeat as MPs reject Brexit deal for second time

Mrs May told MPs she"profoundly rejects the decision this House has taken tonight".

A last-ditch visit to Strasbourg to meet EU officials on Monday night saw Mrs May return with further assurances on the Irish border backstop, which forms a significant part of opposition to her deal. Tuesday night's crunch Commons vote was held after Attorney General Geoffrey Cox admitted, despite the prime minister's efforts to alter her Brexit deal, the legal risk of the UK having no ability to unilaterally exit the backstop was"unchanged".

The Northern Ireland party, who prop up Mrs May's government at Westminster, said"sufficient progress has not been achieved" in altering the withdrawal agreement.

All MPs should be lined up and shot. Going against 17.4m people, simply for their own gains. Shame on you all. What an absolute disgrace

Why don’t we play rock, paper, scissors best of 3 to make a decision. It won’t go thru cos corbyn wants another referendum

So she makes a deal with the rest of Europe then has to come back and see if the rest of the mps agree? And if they don't she goes back to Europe and tries another one

Can someone tell me what's going on

My Opinion Is To Bring The Deal Back To The People With Her Deal Or No Deal

HARD BREXIT GET TRAITOR MAY OUT!

Tories couldn't arrange a piss up in a brewery. What madness to think you could get a different outcome 2nd time around on the same shambolic Brexit deal. General election now and get shot of these self centred elitist Tories.

Time for New Leadership Boris or Jacob come on down !!!

Hard to see how May can continue much longer.

Brexit confusion made even more confusing

No more job losses. No more uncertainty. Leaving will not make a single person better off. Time to remain. Life goes on and we can start fixing things such as housing, schools, NHS, knife crime, homelessness....

😎 Those who voted leave suffer a 149-vote defeat.

😂😂 This is brilliant to watch as a remainer

She never wanted to leave anyway!!

Crack on with no-deal and start afresh

So what now?

Nobody is surprised though .

Theresa May: 'We may never leave at all' if my Brexit deal is rejectedThe prime minister says 'no one knows' what will happen if MPs vote against her withdrawal agreement for a second time. If she really wants to scare people in to voting for her deal, she should replace 'we may never leave at all', with ' I may never leave at all'.... But we voted to leave. So you're basically admitting we are not a democracy? First positive thing she has ever said.
