Just wondering if sex scenes are really needed for the story, most of them do nothing for the story and give you something to skip? But they seem to be put in for no reason for the majority of movies.

I think generally a good thing but I'm struggling to see how you can successfully communicate the requirements of a passionate sex scene to actors using non sexual sterile language. It would end up looking like Will and Charlotte's attempt from the Inbetweeners.
Great movies don't have sex scenes. Its porn & no wonder misogyny is so prevelant. Can you protect viewers & society from the harm of being forced to watch porn?

Sex scenes are never necessary to tell a story. Old films were able to tell stories where intimacy was part of the story without depicting it. It can’t be right for actors to engage in these scenes. Kidding themselves into thinking they can be made “safer”proves the point.

I grew up in an era where there were NO SEX SCENES in films, they are unnecessary, just the actors in nighties or p.j's. with tousled hair, adult viewers can work out for themselves what went on after the passionate kissing. We should go back to that, it's voyeurism not art.
