While multinational companies make a fortune from meat-free products, livestock farmers are struggling veganuary

Spare a thought for our livestock farmers. Just as midwinter is bleakest, when keeping animals alive can be a bare-knuckle fight against the weather, along comes the sanctimonious nonsense of “Veganuary”.

Big meat quaking in their bloody boots. Onward into the New World.

If livestock farmers think it's tough now, wait until they have to compete with cheap US imports post-brexit. There is another way, but I doubt Telegraph readers are interested in or bothered learning about.

Never mind this vegan shite being unhealthy

We would rather pay more for animals that are well looked after and happy during their short lives

'We shouldn't abolish slavery because some people are employed by the industry. Spare a thought for them!'

Why blame the corporations? They're just cashing in on a cultural trend. That trend is to make us feel guilty for eating meat, to shame us into becoming vegan. Our intellectuals (university professors, etc.) started this trend and much of the public has bought into it.

‘Most realistic’ plant-based steak revealedVegan alternatives to meat are popular but recreating the texture of steak is challenging Hipster_Trader, is this a sign of a market top? I hate to sound pedantic, but if it is plant-based then it is not a steak by definition. No matter how realistic it is or can be, it is still not a steak. Why not just eat a salad or pasta; I have no problem with humanity consuming less meat but I've tried many substitutes and they're pretty much all terrible.
