The two Greater Manchester towns named in The Sunday Times' Best Places to Live

Two towns in Greater Manchester have been named amongst the 'best areas to live' in the UK in 2024. The Sunday Times has once again released its annual guide of the Best Places to Live, now in its 12th year running, with each location carefully chosen by their expert panel.

Stockport Stockport has topped the list of the best places to live in the north west in The Sunday Times' guide this year. It is the second year in a row that the area has featured in the guide, with judges branding it 'one of the most exciting towns around'. The panel praised Stockport for its abundance of 'good-value' houses, new and improving transport links and 'funky independent businesses.

Prestwich Prestwich first featured on The Sunday Times' list back in 2022, and it has made it into the guide for a second time this year. The publication has once again favoured the Bury town for its impressive roster of bars and restaurants, lovely green spaces, 'affordable' housing and close proximity to Manchester city centre.

The Sunday Times' guide has had more new entries than ever before this year, with the judges looking for improving locations with a 'strong sense of community' rather than famous names with high house prices.
