Kyla stresses Undocument was not political, however, saying"it was really important for us to kind of just show it how it is, and not finger-point or push it one way or the other, because I think that really turns people off".
But did she and Amin did wonder, given some of the global headlines about migrant deaths and illegal migration, if their film should have been more hard-hitting? "They're sold a lie - they don't know how long they'll be in the lorry for, and they're suddenly put in this survival situation, whether they're just fighting for their lives. They don't realise they'll be trapped with no air and freezing conditions and you might die.
Kyla grew up in the UK, in Suffolk, but had a German mother so has always identified with feeling a bit different. Amin's childhood experiences of war meant he saw its impact first hand, as people fled for a better life elsewhere.

I think that what Britain lacks isn't compassion but perspective. We are open to rescuing refugees but we shouldn't be open to allowing people into the country who bypass the legal immigration system. It's the economic migrants with no visa who have passed through safe
there are those in this country that will show little or no compassion at all for their plight but, i still maintain there are more caring people then there are bigots in the UK, so go ahead and show it.
Parents should be ashamed of themselves putting their kids through this.
What about the thousands of British children suffering at the hands of evil gangs? Where can they run to or get help from? I think all children need help but the UK has lost its way looking after its own kids so perhaps this isn't the safe place they hope for.
I find that no human account is 100% perfect, especially not of unaccompanied migrant children speaking a different language. It is not necessarily due to lack of credibility but rather no human mind can recollect events precisely as per how it occurred every time it is retold.
people escape from their terrible country but then carry on the journey risking their lives to reach the UK ... why?
And yet people’s response is still “send them home”. I wonder what happened to human compassion? You see someone struggling or trying to escape a situation do you just tell them to stay there? If you see a man hitting his partner in the street would you just ignore it?
