Anti-corruption detectives in Lancashire say they started to take a more proactive approach long before the death of Sarah Everard hit the headlines

It is a long-held concept in the UK that policing is done by consent. That is, police forces need to have the public's approval, respect and confidence in order to fulfil their duties.

Former PC Coathup, from Bamber Bridge, was identified as a risk long before the extent of his sexual misconduct became apparent. He was eventually jailed for two years for having sexual relationships with victims of domestic violence who he met when he was sent as a response officer. Det Supt Mulla was talking to LancsLive after we obtained figures, through a Freedom of Information request, which showed that there are 11 serving police officer in Lancashire who are currently suspended due to allegations of criminal offences.
