Two months later Mr Ngiba was one of four people arrested for his predecessor’s murder. “He was a kind person,” says Ms Mkhize, of her husband. “But he was murdered for his choice of becoming anStories like Mr Mkhize’s are surprisingly common.

“Farmgate” is a plotline in a broader story, the next chapter of which begins on December 16th, when themeets to elect its top leaders at its first National Conference since 2017. That story is the self-destruction of the ruling party and the collateral damage to South Africa.was founded in 1912 to campaign against the exploitation of black Africans and the expropriation of their property.

Yet “renewal” is unlikely, for several reasons. Mr Ramaphosa is a cautious man, who would set up a committee to decide whether to have tea or coffee for breakfast. And although Mr Zuma’s acolytes, such as Ace Magashule, are not as powerful as they were, several nominees for theare still facing graft charges. It is a tragedy what has happened to South Africa in the post 1994 era. However, I think you need to look beyond the government for answers. After all, the ANC has been democratically elected.

Wow ... 'the pro-corruption faction' 😅 So this supposes there's an 'anti-corruption' faction, and that CR17 is part of it. Is the rot not endemic in the entirety of the organisation? The Economist seems to have more clarity on the source of the Phala Phala couch millions!

Much safer than going to K-12 schools in the US.

It was built around the personality cult of a mass murdering communist, so not really a surprise.

Suddenly freed to govern self is a transition that takes endless decades with many painful self-inflicted and unforeseen obstacles!

Sad, Mandela was such an amazing person, but he sadly was not a good judge of character.

good riddance

What did you expect? Your clients went in to rob and steal and as usual bribe key elements in society. It's capitalism.

Corruption has no boundaries.... The communists reach is far and wide... The fortune cookie diplomacy will win in Africa...

A shame

Upsetting. Unstable communities that segue into a a stable government? U.N.?

Nazism works from within.

A circus sir. Full of very unfunny clowns.

Mandela was a beautiful historical accident. Politics as usual…

Well this can’t be good…

Healthy democracies change governments every now and then. Such change is what keeps democratic states healthy.

Long ago, corrupt rats. And unfortunately when Mandela was alive and well he was silent about the ongoing corruption.

Nationalism is not a unifying force. Once your clients start bribing key players it falls apart. You are part of the problem.

And harming your exploitative clients who would otherwise just count their loot and stay silent.
