Today marks the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings - the largest seaborne invasion in history.

Graves of mostly British soldiers killed in the World War II Allied invasion of Normandy lie at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s Ranville War Cemetery in France. 75th anniversary of D-Day and many more visit throughout the year to learn about the history and what happened in the region during WWII.This year, the way the anniversary of D-Day will be marked and remembered in Normandy will look a little different due to the continued lockdown and travel restrictions in place because of the pandemic.However there will still be a limited gathering of representatives from nine countries on the beaches today, to pay tribute to the lives lost on June 6 1944 in a short ceremony.
