is calling for better representation from tech companies.
Lowri, 13, from Chilwell, Nottinghamshire, says one of the few bespectacled emojis is the "nerd" face, which she believes is damaging to the confidence of young glasses wearers. She has written to the Unicode Consortium, a group of tech companies which approves new emojis, calling for an option to add glasses to emojis., where their latest film Encanto - which features a glasses-wearing heroine - was honoured."Teenagers [who wear glasses] don't really feel represented," Lowri said.
"Not positively anyway. If it's representation then it's the nerd [emoji] and that's not who we are."
Yea however
The saddest/funniest thing here is that she does look like the nerd emoji 🤓 with not only the form of her glasses, but the type of her teeth as well (these are not sticking out, the mouth is open enough). That does not carry a negative subtext in any way… 1/4
She looks delighted
I wear glasses no one has ever called me a ‘nerd’ in my 40 years just another sprout who wants her 15 minutes off fame jog on specs
Some of the richest people in the world are nerds. Embrace it.
Change the world so this girl can overcome the hurdles in her brain.
Jesus Christ. Is there ANYTHING these ‘Gen Z’ snowflakes AREN’T offended about?! Sounds like she has her own internal issues about wearing glasses. As a fully grown, adult glasses-wearer, I’ll speak for the grown-ups; we’re not offended by such nonsense. The bloody emoji is fine.
Discover the real world 🌎
Personally I think nerds are h****y and really hot.
Lowri needs to get off the iphone and discover the real world.
Shut up nerd
