There appear to be two camps in Quarantine. The first, ‘preened and pulled together’, enjoy the structure of routine - putting on ‘normal’ clothes and applying a layer of make-up. The second, ‘laidback and comfortable’, opt for the daytime sweats and skip make-up altogether. Neither is right or wrong, but as of late we’re noticing more and more celebrities are choosing camp B. A quick scroll through Instagram and you’ll find at least one A-lister showcasing a bare-faced selfie on their story.
'I think it’s great to get out of the habit of feeling like you NEED to wear make up and to embrace your natural complexion,' says Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Emma Wedgeworth. ‘Long-wearing cosmetics, or products that contains oil can clog pores and exacerbate break-outs,' explains Wedgeworth, 'and on the flip side, some make-up can irritate the most sensitive skins.' So taking a break from these products can help to ease irritation and keep those pesky spots at bay.
So if you're looking to take a skin holiday, draw inspiration from our round-up of make-up free celebrity selfies, from Julia Roberts and Helen Mirren to Drew Barrymore and Halle Berry.
