One of the most unique castles in Scotland, with its emerald green exterior, plans have been announced for a whisky distillery in the grounds of Inveraray Castle.

People in Glasgow will have heard of the beautiful town of Inveraray with more than a few having made the day trip there.

One of the most unique examples of its kind, whisky fans will be delighted to know that not only is it beautiful to visit with pristine grounds and epic interiors, but it's also set to be home to a new whisky distillery. Now, Argyll Estates have teamed up with drinks firm Stock Spirits Group, to lodge a planning application notification with Argyll and Bute Council for the construction of a £25m malt whisky distillery on the grounds – meaning you'll have even more excuse to go.

Locals will now be consulted on the plans and will have the opportunity comment on them, those behind the project said.
