Arenas are the scene of many memories. From our first gig through to memorable concerts and sporting events, many of the big moments happen there.
But one of my proudest ice hockey moments came from my time at university when I twice played in the Sheffield Winter Varsity game at the Utilita Arena. The arena was packed as students from both Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield roared on their respective teams. With my knowledge of the sport, I believe Petgrave was knocked off balance on his way to make the 'hit'. We all know the awful consequences that slight knock led to.
But, even with Storm Ciaran on the horizon, the wind seemed to stop. Dozens of fans have left tributes. Flowers, ice hockey sticks, pucks, shirts and flags adorn the slabs at corner of the arena. I have really missed ice hockey since I stopped playing around 10 years ago. I miss the banter, the buzz, the excitement and the long road trips to away games.
"People like you are the types I aspire to be. Determined to be the best ice hockey players we can possibly be, making dreams turn to reality.
