The video features a woman on a call to a friend. Initially they're having a conversation about banana bread. She then subtly gives the signal. The Signal for Help was created by the Canadian Women's Foundation, who say the social isolation measures as a result of the coronavirus pandemic are making it more difficult for those who are at risk of abuse or violence to reach out.
The video has been shared widely across social media platforms including Twitter and TikTok, to raise awareness of the signal which could save somebody's life.
