The new addition will no doubt bring a slew of new dramas for the couple as they continue their reign of an expanding Russia. As will the arrival of Catherine's mother, Joanna, played by Gillian Anderson.
In season one, we saw Catherine coup her husband and finally take the throne herself. This time. she'll come to terms with the harsh realities of liberating a country that doesn’t want to be liberated. This means we can expect her to be butting heads with everyone from her staff to her mother in a bid to fight for what she believes is right for the future of Russia. We'll also see a shift in her relationship with her husband, who she spent the entire first season despising.

She travels to Russia after hearing rumors of Catherine's coup, however, not all is what it seems when it comes to her intentions.The second season of The Great will premiere on Hulu next month on 19 November. However, there is no confirmed date for when it will appear on All 4, though we're hoping it will be soon after.
