Remotely working; digitally conversing; constantly travelling: we live in a rapidly evolving world, where conventional codes for living have been shattered. This concept of human hybridisation fascinates Tod’s men’s collections visionary, Michele Lupi, the publishing veteran who joined the Italian luxury house in December 2018.
‘The idea of the exhibition was to answer the question of how lives change based on changes in society,’ says Lupi. Today, fashion does not work in categories. Clothing must embody an amalgam of elements that cater to our ever-adapting lifestyles. Sportswear, tailoring and casualwear must meet in a fluctuating middle. Hybrid living calls for hybrid footwear. Tod’s latest creation – with the elegant front tip of a loafer and the robust base of a sneaker – is a versatile design conceived by Yong.
The third design in Tod’s experimental No_Code workshop boasts an easy slip-on shape, performance-focused neoprene and leather detailing and light construction. Materials are luxurious and technical. This newly conceived style features a sleek, elasticated lace toggle, while embossing nods to Yong’s industrial design background. The style is offered in a range of sophisticated shades, spanning tan, ice blue, navy, silver, red and black.
‘How do you live today? How will you live in the future? How will your habits change radically?’ architect Andrea Caputo asked Wallpaper* after the installation of ‘No_Code Shelter: Stories of Contemporary Life’ exhibition last April. The label’s No_Code design is a sophisticated style choice for now and tomorrow. Should the dwellings of mid 21st-century humans be presented at an exhibition in the future, there may well be a pair of 03’s positioned at the entrance to every front door.
