Nottinghamshire County Council has refused to deem a gaping pothole as hazardous - despite it taking up almost the entire width of one side of the road. The crater, on Cordy Road near Underwood, has worsened and worsened over time.
The man, who didn't want to be named, said: "I don't know how bad the damage needs to be to warrant a repair as my photo shows it is quite substantial. I disagree that it isn't hazardous as I have to slow right down to go over it. It's also on a bend so could be very dangerous for a cyclist or motorbike, especially if a vehicle swerves onto the other side of the road to avoid it.
The council's full email back to the man says: "The location you have rised concerns with has now been inspected and no hazardous defects have been indentified. As such, no action is warranted at this time to keep the road in a safe condition.
