Millions of new banknotes replaced due to damageFigures show millions of the new-style £5 and £10 notes have been damaged since they were launched. So on reading the article I find the bank notes which are expected to have a life of 5 years are lasting 4. Which is still twice as long as the paper notes......What’s the problem? they are bloody awful. Springy, slippery. Hard to hold. And in an emergency you can no longer use a Rolson note tube as it takes too much effort to get it in & the note is crumpled for days when you have eventually found the energy to remove it. The new 20-p notes, which we are all anticipating to be in circulation in no small-time measure are susceptible to destruction, but with a longer lifespan.
