The barge, packed with traditional and retro sweets as well as handmade toffee and fudge, has caused quite a stir when it's moored up along the Bridgewater Canal during previous summers, stopping off in the likes of Worsley and Leigh.
This weekend, June 29 and 30, it will be moored up at The Moorings pub in Boothstown, Salford, where it will open from 11am to 4pm on both days.Owner Gail Levers runs the business with partner Trevor Wass and they travel the country in the boat, which they live on. This weekend it'll be fully stocked with its popular handmade fudge, which comes in a variety of flavours including everything from the traditional vanilla, clotted cream and sea salted caramel to the more unusual rhubarb, sour cherry, whiskey and ginger. The Candy Boat has a Facebook page where it shares details of where it will be stopping through the summer. It's currently heading north and stops depend on where they can get a suitable mooring on route.
Its posts have attracted comments from people who have already sampled the goodies on board, including one customer, who said: "This was round our end the other week, every type of sweet you can think of!! Worth a visit."
