The Prime Minister needs to brace himself for big questions when the inquiry into Dominic Raab concludes 🔵 KateMaltby for ipaperviews

This weekend, Squeaky-Clean Sunak suddenly seemed to get a grip. He sacked Zahawi over the latter’s failure to be open and honest about a multi-million pound tax bill.

It would be easy for the rest of us to dismiss this reset as another set of empty promises. But sometimes, a politician deserves to be given a chance. Sunak still faces a number of basic integrity tests, including the continuing investigations into accusations of bullying against Raab, and into the process which appointed Sharp.

Let’s remind ourselves of how events unfolded last Sunday. The Independent Adviser on Ministers’ Interests, Sir Laurie Magnus, reported on Zahawi’s handling of allegations about his tax affairs. The results were damning.

Sometimes, a PM with an ally in trouble will try to force an inquiry to conclude before sufficient evidence of wrongdoing has been collected – and it takes a brave independent investigator, or civil servant, to dig in their heels and insist on sufficient time to do the job. But more often, prime ministers with a sloppy approach to ethics like long inquiries. In the case of bullying or sexual harassment, this has particularly painful consequences for the complainants.

Boris Johnson Says Vladimir Putin Isn't 'Mad' And Won't Use Nuclear WeaponsThe former prime minister piled pressure on Western leaders to provide more help to Ukraine. Johnson is a back bench MP who spends little time in the UK/Parliament. I feel this should be added to each article which suggests he has great insight. In April 2018 during Skripal crisis Johnson, a PM since sacked for lying, travelled to Italy without officials or security & met former KGB agent Lebedev (since sanctioned by Canada for links to Putin)
