Like many games that come from tabletop beginnings, BattleTech world-building is split between a variety of novels, sourcebooks, and other supplements—enough to satisfy any lorehound for a lifetime.

is set in the year 3025, a critical epoch where humanity has been in fractious decline due to centuries of continual warfare with no end in sight.

Here's a brief smattering of recommended readings to really get you invested in the universe of BattleTech. This series takes place across the 3020's and establishes a number of characters and organizations that become continually important for the BattleTech timeline. Written by Michael A. Stackpole , these books deal with the political and military machinations taking place in the core of humanity known as the Inner Sphere. There are also awesome mech battles, of course.

My two cents on the topic… Novels? Easy… Natural Selection by Michael Stackpole. Sourcebooks? I’d say the Comstar sourcebook. Technical readouts? Definitely 3055.

Wolves on the Border is always my go-to recommendation for best book in the series. Good stuff.

I was just watching Battletech videos months later.. how come I see this post right after that

I had some as a kid, but only read one fully: Ideal War. It dove into inner sphere politics, battlefield ethics, and civil war. Great stuff Next one I read was like reading a dry play by play: 'then the mech shot it's LRM20 at the other mech and did damage'. Bland. I stopped.

I'm a fan of Battletech but why are posting something from April 23 2018? This makes little sense.

Nice to see some love thrown at Battletech! It’s a fantastic and detailed sci-fi universe
