The father of Sir David Amess’ suspected killer says he has been left ‘very traumatised’ after Friday’s events.
Sir David was stabbed as many as 17 times when he was attacked in his Essex constituency surgery, gruesome reports about the killing say. British national Ali Harbi Ali, 25, has been arrested following the Leigh-on-Sea attack on Friday, which was the second time an MP has been killed in five years. The suspect’s father, Harbi Ali Kullane – a former adviser to the prime minister of Somalia – confirmed that he had been visited by police.: ‘I’m feeling very traumatised.Citing Whitehall sources, the paper reported that the suspect is thought to be a ‘self-radicalised’ lone operative known to counter-terror police and referred to the Prevent programme.Reports say that he lives on a street in Kentish Town, London, stacked with celebrity neighbours and £2 million homes.
The knifeman is said to have waited calmly at the surgery inside a church before launching the attack .Flowers have been left at the scene of the attack, with tributes continuing to pour in.
