This is nothing more than a criminal charter allowing them to carry on their nefarious activities unchecked, it's their victims who continue to suffer.

Instead of putting them in prison put them in the forces for minimum of two years

If I’m a victim of a crime and the person would get let’s say 5 months but then not go to prison how am I then still a victims if they walk free, what happens after they have violated my property let’s say I meet them on the street Free?

A better way to reduce the prison population would be to give out much, much harsher sentences for all crimes (even the 'petty' ones) so that some people might actually be deterred from committing crime

Par for todays lack of Police and crime detection. The bottom line, let minor crime go. Chase cars and kill innocents, and reap the lack of Police presence except for speeding and car crime. The bottom line must be local police and presence. Our Police station is a toilet stop.

If short term prison sentences are considered ineffective then they should be increased not scrapped and they should be whole term sentences.
