Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has pleaded guilty to assaulting a former girlfriend.

"I was not in a good place when this took place and I reacted to a difficult situation in a way I deeply regret. I know it wasn't OK and I'm sincerely sorry for the hurt I caused.

"Mental health is tough. Life can seem overwhelming. But I've found that getting help and working on myself has helped me to feel better and to be better."Kyrgios had called an Uber but Ms Passari stood in front of him and closed the car's passenger door. The driver wouldn't leave with it open so Kyrgios pushed her shoulders with open palms, causing her to fall over and graze her knee.

Ms Passari signed a statement about the assault 11 months later, after her relationship with the star was over. Kyrgios's current girlfriend wrote a character reference to court saying she had no concerns of violence in their relationship.

if a woman wont let a man leave and tries to stop him from leaving he has the right to move her so he can get away, why are men punished for trying to run away

Offenders turn themselves into the victim, taking responsibility because of MH. What about trauma suffered by the real victim?

'The magistrate called the incident 'a single act of stupidity or frustration' when sparing him a criminal record.' Has the judge not seen him play tennis? This is standard behaviour for him. Sickened me to watch him skip off to play Grand Slams when he should've been in jail.

Tosser on court, Tosser off court

Ok a man argues with a woman, she calls a taxi and tries to leave, she is blocked from leaving by the man who blocks her from the taxi and she pushes him out of the way. Would she be up in court?

Well well well

Privilege and fame speaking. Anyone unknown would have been treated differently
