From Neopets to Habbo Hotel, we’d like to hear your experiences and memories to mark the 30th anniversary of the web

Thirty years ago this month, Tim Berners-Lee filed his proposal for the project that would become the world wide web. To mark the date, we’re asking readers to share their favourite and formative memories of online communities from the 90s and early 00s. That could be a tale of relationships forged through forums that no longer exist, pivotal dramas on long-lost discussion threads, or long-distance friends introduced through niche online interests.

YouTube used to be really fun and then companies began censoring people they didn't agree with

Omgosh sooo many. I basically grew up on internet forums. There was one called 'YPs' that I spent hours on, we wrote a book collaboratively, it was amazing. There was an Australian guy I met on there that I am still close friends with to this day. It got shut down tho

I was part of this group on Habbo Hotel who built a 'Hogwarts Role Play' through a series of connected rooms on the Australian server. Each room was a different classroom or corridor or area of the castle. People played so earnestly and there were very few trolls at that time.

Facebook - used to be a great community for social networking, but then it lost it's way and decided to sell data to fascists in order that they could fraudulently target voters to win elections and let them asset strip entire countries. Shame, really.

NEOPETS WONT LET ME BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT I am available for interviews xx

Wow. Finally an article not slamming the nucleus of a family. My husband is my best friend above all others, as well as my lover, my everything. I expected the article to trash talk spousal relationships but it didn’t. Well done you! Marxism: always wanting to tell people NOT to get married

'I have the right to tell this story': Lukas Dhont defends his trans film GirlHis film about a transitioning dancer was set for the big time – until it was called ‘the most dangerous movie about a trans character in years’. Does the director have any regrets? There are no dangerous movies about trans people in 2019. I cannot hardly think of a safer move by a film maker in 2019. Since when has a movie about a trangender been dangerous? It's been done time and time again: the Danish Girl ect. ect. Get over it. Pretty mainstream in current times now tbh - so no, not very edgy. Far more dangerous things to write a film about. All these critics can take their whiney little asses and jump off a cliff. Where are all their whines about Jim Parsons, Neil Patrick Harris, and Kevin Spacey among others. So sick of these idiotics complaints about casting FOR FICTIONAL STORIES!!!!

Killer who refused to say where he hid victim's body out on temporary releaseHelen McCourt's mum said she was 'absolutely appalled' her daughter's murderer was walking around unsupervised. 'Simms, who maintains his innocence'.... I think that might be the clue as to why he hasn't said where he hid the body, he still denies he did the crime. Sometimes this country's 'justice system' makes me sick to the core. Me, personally, I would have had him hanged.
