Tasers need greater scrutiny amid disproportionate use against black people, police watchdog says

I thought the independent stood for journalistic integrity? Surely anyone with integrity would have seen this sham of a report for what it is. 101 cases (hand picked by the iopc) out of 95000 is hardly a sensible statistical range. Pity.

Already huge scrutiny on TASER. Nearly all discharges are referred to policeconduct and recorded. The No of uses is tiny in proportion to incidents officers attend. PFEW_HQ do not agree that use is disproportionate and no cases IOPC investigated have criticised an officers use.

Why is the ‘independent’ office for police conduct liking this? IOPC_help MPFED doesn’t seem very independent of them and the sort of thing that would land a police officer in trouble.

Just let black people get away with committing crime, problem solved right?

Who disproportionately commits crime

Is it dispropotional based on reported crime. I.e. if responding to 100 crimes involving knife crime. If they attended 50 from white knife suspects and 50 from black suspects would the % of taser use be different?

Certain groups just insist on being belligerent, hence attract a more forceful response.

Uuuuuummmmm I think we'd rather get tased disproportionately than shot disproportionately, I haven't heard of cop using a taser in so long I thought they stopped issuing them

The tasers don’t need the scrutiny it’s the police that need the scrutiny. I mean you do understand that?

Tasers don’t have agency. Police officers do.

White guys with weapons need to face greater scrutiny.
