The 42-year-old has had opportunities to return to the game since leaving Honved but has finished his UEFA pro-licence.

The former Dundee United boss would be up for a Premiership return with Saints. Courts has been out of the game since October last year when he left Hungarian side Honved. The 42-year-old has had opportunities to return to the game in that time but has preferred to focus on finishing off his UEFA pro-licence. Courts has now completed that work and will now look to actively get back in the technical area with the right club.

The talented boss worked wonders at Dundee United in his one season in charge at Tannadice. He led them to fourth place and back into Europe before he left for Hungary. The Saints board are meeting today to narrow down their options and to decide what direction they want to move forward. St Johnstone are on the lookout for a manager after sacking Steven MacLean at the weekend.

Former Hearts boss Craig Leven took in Wednesday’s win over Killie although he has close links to Saints player Max Kucheriavyi, while former Hibs and Sunderland No. 2 Jamie McAllister was also in attendance at McDiarmid Park. Ex-Celtic and Scotland defender Charlie Mulgrew has already made a public pitch for the post while Scott Brown has been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite - although his preference is to return to management in England.
