Fourth-placed Hearts continued their preparations for their first ever Women’s Scottish Cup final appearance with a win over Partick Thistle – despite a late flurry from the visitors.
A quickfire brace from Kathleen McGovern put the hosts 2-0 up within 15 minutes, aided for her second by an unfortunate slip by Thistle goalkeeper Ava Eadson at the near post. As the match entered its final 15 minutes Katie Lockwood looked have wrapped up a comfortable victory, pouncing on a neat Sade Adamolekun ball to turn home a third for Hearts.
But Brian Graham’s side fired back in quick succession, firstly with Cara Henderson drilling home from the penalty spot, before Kodie Hay bending a stunning effort from the edge of the penalty area into the far corner. Thistle continued to push forward in the final minutes in the hunt for an equaliser, but were unable to breach the Hearts defence once more as Eva Olid’s side held out for the win.All times UK.
