A surfer has been found dead with shark bites on Goat Island in Oahu, Hawaii, according to Honolulu Emergency Medical ServicesHe had been surfing off Goat Island, also known as Mokuauia, near Laie, Hawaii - about 32 miles north of Honolulu - when he was found at 1 pm, officials told the"Tamayo Perry was a lifeguard loved by all, well-known on the North Shore, a professional surfer known worldwide around the world," said Acting Ocean Safety Chief Kurt Lager in a statement.
"Tamayo was a legendary waterman and highly respected a great member of our Ocean Safety team; it’s just really hard to imagine, so we just want to pay our respects to our guys.Bitzer, a friend wrote a tribute to Perry on Facebook, writing, "The things we have seen! My brother in Christ I love you brah! Tamayo, I won’t get over this until I see you in heaven."Tamayo Perry you weren’t my friend you were my brother, the pain we're collectively feeling is immense.
His bio on the OSE website states that he made appearances in several films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Blue Crush, and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. "I’ve been surfing professionally for over 15 years and surfing the world's deadliest wave is what I got paid for ," Perry wrote in his bio."A number of years ago while surfing Pipeline on the Extra Large size, I was involved in a freak accident that turned into a near-fatal experience.Perry wrote that he took lessons from that experience, which inspired him to teach others about surfing etiquette and safety.
