Aside from some risk of some showers in the South, Mr Dixon adds: “For the vast majority it will be feeling very pleasant with sunshine.According to the Met Office, daytime and nighttime temperatures for the majority of the UK have been above average with parts of south-east England near or just a little below average.
Greg Dewhurst, senior meteorologist at the Met Office, said the recent chilly mornings and evenings experienced by some parts is a result of the drier-than-average weather in May. He added: “This in turn comes with lower humidity. Lower humid air often can feel chillier in general when the sun isn’t up. Also, there has been quite a consistent northeasterly breeze, which coming in from the North Sea will also give it more of a chilly feel in the evenings and overnight particularly.”
While the weather has been “pretty normal” for the time of year, Mr Dewhurst added: “As we head through the summer months we will see the return of warm and humid nights on occasions.”
