An email sent from Suella Braverman's personal account on the day she had to resign over a security breach could throw fresh doubt over her claims about the speed with which she took action.
But the BBC understands she sent the original email from her personal Gmail account to the wrong person, a member of parliamentary staff, at 7:52 BST on 19 October. One source told the BBC there was no evidence that Ms Braverman had raised the incident herself before she was confronted with the mistake later that afternoon, and subsequently had to resign.
Anyone know why Government IT doesn't apply settings to block this? It's pretty easy to do with rules to block emailing your own personal addresses, add proper use of rights management and this couldn't happen, so terrible at multiple levels.
She should be prosecuted under the OSA. Why is she even emailing sensitive information to a backbencher?
You won’t let it go will you 😮💨
Zzzzzzzzz
What are the motivations behind reinstating her?
Is this going to be a never ending discussion like ‘partygate’? We have pressing issues like the illegal migrant s coming in their thousands. Can we park this 💩 and get on with the real stuff?
The msm doesnt seem to be concerned about the security risks of illegal immigrants crossing the channel from safe france
Bullying is NOT acceptable!!!!
I have security doubts about a British PM taking “donations” for favours. I have security doubts about a government that that believes it is reasonable to accept “donations” for policy decisions. Serious attention needs to be pointed at corruption in office.
The deceit & corruption if this government is inexcusable.
If only UK politicians would start discussing ideas rather than people. If only the UK media would do the same and demand politicians put forward ideas.
A labour mp was paid money by the Chinese government, but, no,nothing to see here.
I’d be more worried security wise of thousands turning up in dinghies on our coast line with no checks . Media scum.
Boris gone - let's pick on someone else! ScumMedia
She was conducting government business on a unsecured device. This is our National Security 😡 Also, goes for Truss 😡 GeneralElectionN0W
We did not buy it one bit. I called it a 'coup d'etat.' she knew how to leave by the speed of her return. the problem was not even fully discussed. i may have issues in Haiti and problem in my US parties but i can smell a rat.
Leave Braverman in office. The BBC is the megaphone of the Labour Party.
Get rid. Cant be trusted.
Does the population of uk want is to fail completely it seems through media we are the only country making our people suffer get real
The media witch hunt continues
Wait, so her accidentally sending an email and asking for it to be deleted is a problem, but someone leaking the email to the press isn't? 🤔
Every single thing runs through GCHQ. If there was a problem, they would have flagged it. Stop indulging in Labourite faeces throwing at license fee payers' expense! Is Martine Croxall being paid at public expense whilst she's suspended too?🙄
BBC definitely on the list of we want Suella out, it will be a daily drag the dirt on her until they bully her out of office scummedia👍
I have worked in many organisations that don't handle information that is near as sensitive as the information in question and they blocked messages to personal accounts. It's quite easy to implement. Why isn't this in place in government departments?
Transparent lefty campaign
dinosofos Good old Leaky Sue…
So former members of Johnson's cabinet appear to be keeping up his tradition of lying to cover up mistakes. Sunak's promise of integrity didn't last long.
'Ms Braverman had sent the document to her own Gmail address, before sending it on'. That's not a mistake, that is intentional
Everything Cruella touches turns to shit 😂
Whole idea was to get a govt free of clowns like BJ and not a new scandal every week. It's not stopping. Starmer is fair to say Tories lost the mandate and new elections should decide what really people want.
For me two hours is a quick response, you're spreading hate to try to remove SuellaBraverman
Keep digging leftie scumbags 😠
Here we go again, the campaign has started.
Get RID🤔
On 7 Sept Labour announced: “Starmer’s Chief Whip,Labour MP Nick Brown *temporarily* suspended pending investigation” It’s now 7 wks later! Why was Nick Brown suspended? Why the secrecy? Is it true that this scandal is bad enough to bring Starmer down too?
Imagine what the press would be saying if this was a Labour MP. Full on treason I suspect.
Give it a rest!🙄 DefundTheBBC
FLASH POLL 👇 Is Suella Braverman too much of a distraction and should resign? Retweet for more votes 🔁 SuellaBraverman ridge BBCLauraK gbnews bbcbreakfast
Now you're scrapping the bottom of the cavernous barrel to grab a headline. She'd broke the rules... She should never have been rehired... She should go.
People wouldn't tolerate this if their bank had an employee who did this. Yet the Tories and their friends in the press are happy for the person in charge of national security to remain in post.
OBSESSED
This shouldn't leave the headlines until she is gone from government for good.
Big ‘kin yawn, done with this sh1t
Reassuring to see that even under the safest person left in the story party(rishi) that they can prove themselves unfit for office. GTTO
