THE stress of the pandemic has seen more people take up smoking for the first time in decades, according to ONS stats set to be released this week.

In 2019, when the stats were last released 14.1 per cent of Brits lit up, compared to 14.7 the year before. Earlier this year Health Sec Sajid Javid allowed doctors to prescribe vaping to smokers who want to quit.
