London Mayor Sadiq Khan calls for probe into Met Police

Stephen Port's victims : Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Jack Taylor and Daniel Whitworth

HMICFRS independently assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of police forces - in the public interest.Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor were all killed by Port in the London borough over 16 months., send evidence to be forensically examined, and exercise professional curiosity while Port was embarking on his killing spree, the inquest heard.

Mr Khan said in a statement the quality of the Met Police's investigation at the time of the murders "raised a number of concerns" and had "damaged the confidence of the LGBTQ+ [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, plus] community in the police"."These young men and their families deserved so much better and I will do everything in my power to make sure that the failings that contributed to the deaths of these innocent young men can never be repeated.
