Eric Barone talks about the difficulty of updating Stardew Valley and re-starting work on new game Haunted Chocolatier.

Farming can be a lot of fun actually Stardew Valley has been an ongoing success for close to a decade now, after having been ported to every available format and still attracting tens of thousands of players each day. Despite all that, it’s made by just one person: Eric Barone, also known as Concerned Ape. He’s been extra busy lately too, after recently releasing the big 1.6 update that shot player numbers to well over 100,000 on PC.

‘There’s a lot of new stuff added, it’s always tricky to add things without messing up the balance of what is already in the game. There’s a lot of fine tuning involved in order to not disrupt the pacing, or make gameplay too easy or difficult. ‘I want the experience to be very fun. When you add new powers, it can throw off the balance. Balancing things is the most difficult part.
