A Greggs store and Starbucks which both have drive through facilities could soon open near Warton Aerodrome.
The new plans would see the two shops built on land off Lytham Road following the demolition of two derelict bungalows. The proposal, from Luna Developments, has been formally submitted to Fylde Borough Council and is said to offer benefits including new jobs, enhanced facilities and improving the appearance of the site.
The two bungalows earmarked for demolition are currently disused and boarded up, having been empty for “a considerable period of time.” The surrounding area is also significantly overgrown. If the plans are approved, the buildings will be cleared to make way for the two drive through stores and a surrounding car park, That will include 29 spaces, four electric charging points and eight cycling spaces. There will also be dedicated pedestrian and cycling access from Lytham Road.
A document submitted with the application says the layout is planned for maximum efficiency and that drive-through queuing has also been considered to minimise any potential impact of adjacent roads. It adds: “The scale of the proposed development has been carefully considered to avoid any impact on adjacent residential properties and kept down to single storey for this reason.”
A planning statement concludes: "The application will have overriding sustainability benefits through the redevelopment of a previously developed site, the improvement to the appearance of the area, provision of enhanced local facilities and the provision of jobs."
