A sports star who endured a horrific injury chose to end her life. Horse rider Caroline March revealed her reasons for picking assisted suicide in a moving letter she shared on social media.
But her injury had stopped her from doing "anything and everything" that she once loved to do. And she spoke of the toll the life-changing event had on her in the letter, which she posted on her public Facebook page. She died on March 23. It's not been made public where or how she ended her life. Caroline's letter said: "I've never understood society's obsession with longevity and the need to live for as long as possible.

The bowel and bladder regime, sexual function, the entire impossibility to do anything and everything that I love. I have felt so much love from so many people the last few years. I just wish love could fix it or even make it bearable but it can't.
