Coronavirus: Spanish PM promises to ease confinement of children

The details still have to be worked out but the prime minister agrees children need to have fresh air

In a televised briefing on Saturday evening, Mr Sánchez said Spain had left behind"the most extreme moments and contained the brutal onslaught of the pandemic". However, the main lockdown measures remain in place, with adults only allowed out to visit food shops and pharmacies or work considered essential. Children have been barred from leaving their homes completely.Spain's eight million children have already spent five weeks confined to their homes and there has been growing unease at the risk to their health.

From a week on Monday, the prime minister said, children will be allowed out but he added that he had not yet decided how it would be organised and it would have to be"limited and subject to conditions to avoid contagion".

Spain's eight million children have already spent five weeks confined to their homes and there has been growing unease at the risk to their health.... We need this now, but we need to be vigilant 💙🙏 sanchezcastejon SpainLockDown WeAreInThisTogether

I have a prediction that extended lockdown will eventually see mass disobedience by the youth of Britain and the police will just not have the capacity to control their behaviour. I’d give them all bicycles and let them be deliveroo peeps for deliveries to elderly & vulnerable

Pedo pressure ?

Spain finally learned the virus is not hanging out in the grass and trees just waiting for some unsuspecting child to run by and attack.

So, the animals are having their day and the kids are coming out to play.

This is a once in a century opportunity to give kids a parent-free world. We can all stay in our houses while they go out on the weekends.

How does that even make any sense

It's beautiful to see Spanish children in their sun.. . but how are we protecting our children?

I am not a scientist, but I feel like they are doing this:

Oh how clever. Kill the children.

Ministers need to be honest about our need to live with the virusSpain has been one of the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus and has implemented one of the toughest lockdowns as a consequence. Pending a vaccine, if we keep the lockdown for high risk groups only; and make masks compulsory in public for everyone else, the NHS is unlikely to be overwhelmed again; and we can escape from the blunt, broadbrush approach to a lockdown we've currently committed ourselves to. Certainly not . Matt Hancock is not being very effective in his job after listening to him this morning . If you don't mind dying.
