Southend United reconsiders name of stand featuring 'Rose West'

Southend United said it would look at a "different arrangement of words" for the stand

A football club is to reconsider plans to rename a stand after a sponsor, after fans pointed out it would include the name of a serial killer. Southend United sold naming rights for the West Stand at their Roots Hall ground to estate agents Gilbert & Rose. Now when fans want to buy a ticket, the stadium plan shows availability in the Gilbert & Rose West Stand.Rose West, together with her husband Fred,at the couple's house in Gloucester over a 20-year period from 1967.

Southend United have sold the naming rights for their West Stand to the local estate agents Gilbert & Rose.

And their first 2 games are against bury and Welwyn gardens city 👀

The kit man Jack has also been sacked having been referred to as Jack the stripper.

She changed her name in December 2020 to Jennifer Jones.

It's the West Stand that's being sponsored by Gilbert & Rose. While the name Gilbert & Rose West Stand may be unfortunate, it matches the stadium naming format.

They've Gloucester few fans over this debacle, I bet.

It could catch on - I can't wait to go Wimbeldon and watch the tennis on Hindley Hill
