The son of a well known charity worker in Derry has praised the support from the local community after his dad was diagnosed with motor neurone's disease. Dermot McCrossan, a relief worker for Foyle Haven charity from the Top of the Hill area of the Waterside in Derry, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease late last year. His son, a teacher in his 20s also named Dermot, described how the condition has already forced his father - an avid runner - to give up the sport. Dermot praised the support he has received from the local community as he and his two brothers prepare to run the Belfast Marathon to raise money for the Motor Neurone's Disease Association NI.
