Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has missed out on the opportunity to return to football management after Canada appointed former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch as their new national team head coach.
Jose Mourinho is believed to have rejected the chance to interview for the role, the same also applying with Frank Lampard as the pair await new opportunities. Back in February, the six-time Premier League winner hinted he was interested in returning to club management but would not be rushed into a new role. He explained during an event in New Dehli, as quoted by the Daily Mirror: "I’ve got at least one club job in me. It has to be an interesting one, somewhere, an adventure, somewhere I can be myself.
"You always want to manage against the best football people in the world. The Premier League is the best league in the world, the most difficult. I had been there for three years. Yes, it was a hard job. It’s an extraordinary job, but you’re the face of the biggest and best club in the world. You have to be ready all the time to be scrutinised. So, I enjoyed it but I needed a break after I stepped away.
