Duguid, the MP for Banff and Buchan, previously criticised the idea of a windfall tax on energy companies without declaring his wife's £50,000 shares

The SNP has called for a “full, independent inquiry” into whether a Scottish Tory MP has broken the ministerial code.

Duguid was a junior Scotland Office minister between June 2020 and September 2021 and again briefly in October 2022. He was involved with energy policy at that time. The paper also said that she has more than 11,000 shares and should have received more than £2,000 last year in dividends. “Would Mr Duguid have had the same desire to oppose a windfall tax on energy companies if he wasn’t set to profit from it? I highly doubt it.
